Windows Vista Enterprise edition available through Managed Software
Distribution (MSD) for evaluation and testing by UGA IT staff
ATHENS, Ga.—
Windows Vista Enterprise edition is currently available for
evaluation and testing by UGA IT staff from MSD. Full functioning,
evaluation copies can be ordered through the MSD online catalog:
https://www.msd.uga.edu/catalog/product_items.php?product_id=124
EITS is currently evaluating Vista for use at UGA for hardware requirements
and interoperability with existing software and centrally offered
applications. Therefore, EITS will not support any edition of Windows Vista
until this evaluation is complete.
EITS will make a recommendation for upgrading to Windows Vista with
associated support levels in summer 2007.
Important information for Vista Evaluators:
- Windows Vista is only provided for UGA IT staff to evaluate and test
at this time. It should not be used for any other purpose and it should not
be installed on any computer that is used by faculty, staff, or students for
instruction, research, administrative, or similar functions.
- To assist in the evaluation of Windows Vista, EITS has established a
Web site with information and links to related software tools:
http://eits.uga.edu/windowsvista
-
To be eligible to participate in the evaluation process, EITS asks that you
agree to complete an evaluation form about your experience. The evaluation
form is available here:
http://eits.uga.edu/windowsvista/page.php?l=2&c=FEED
- EITS will not provide support or assistance during the evaluation period.
General distribution for all available editions via the
Microsoft Campus Agreement (MCA), which includes Enterprise, Business, and Ultimate, is expected to begin summer 2007.
