Spam increase on the rise during holidays

ATHENS, Ga.— The holiday season brings with it many joys and pleasures. Unfortunately, it often signals the spammers to increase their efforts in trying to get their advertisements into your inbox.

"Not only is there an increase in spam because of the holiday season," said Nate Childers, an EITS consultant, "but spammers continue to create 'smarter' spam."

Childers went on to say that with each measure EITS takes to counteract spam, the spammers find ways to counteract those measures.

"We continue to work with our email vendor to implement spam detection techniques that will effectively identify and eliminate spam making its way to user inboxes."
