bert@uga.edu Office of Information Security receives award for education and awareness Web site ATHENS, Ga.— The UGA Office of Information Security, a division within Enterprise Information Technology Services, has received the ACUTA Member Site to See award for the second quarter of 2006. ACUTA, the Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education, serves nearly 800 institutions of higher education and 2,000 communications technology professionals from across the United States and Canada as well as Australia and New Zealand. The winning Web site (http://www.infosec.uga.edu/sate) was developed to support the Office of Information Security's initiative to provide a comprehensive security awareness, training, and education program for the University community and beyond. Visitors to the Web site will find brochures, presentations, handbooks, training presentations, and related educational materials. "We are happy that ACUTA has recognized the UGA SATE efforts," said Stanton Gatewood, UGA's Chief Information Security Officer. "SATE is evolving as we are developing an integrated security awareness, training, and education program—one that is based on a validated training strategy and includes a formal course curriculum in addition to other learning conventions." "The acknowledgement by ACUTA further supports the recognition of the need for training and education in the area of information security, and I am very pleased for UGA and for the colleagues in EITS," said Dr. Barbara White, UGA's Chief Information Officer and Associate Provost. "We must continue to be diligent as individuals and as an organization in moving forward in minimizing risk to our information and our data through enhanced education and training opportunities." Currently featured on the ACUTA Web site (http://acuta.org), the site was selected for its excellence in content delivery, timeliness, ease of use, accessibility, and graphic appeal. The University of Georgia will also be recognized for this achievement in the June issue of ACUTA e-News and at ACUTA's Annual Conference in San Diego, California, July 23-27, 2006.
