1. Launch Secure FTP

2. When the program opens, you should be prompted with the OPEN CONNECTION box. Alternately, you can click on the CONNECT button.

3. Enter the following information:

Host Name: mydrive.uga.edu
User Name: Enter your UGA MyID
Password: Enter your password

Select "save to bookmarks," which will allow you connect again without re-entering all the information. Just select the Profile from the pull-down menu.

For security reasons, we recommend that you do not save your password.

4. With the OPEN CONNECTION window still open, click on the OPTIONS button from within the window.

5. You should select EXPLICIT SSL as the security mode.

6. Optionally, you may also specify a "Starting Remote Folder" and a "Starting Local Folder," but this is not required.

7. Click Connect.

Some users may get a
NEW CERTIFICATE ENCOUTERED warning. You can choose to either "Grant This Session" or "Grant Always" to continue.
8. After you click CONNECT, you'll be prompted for your UGA MyID and password. Enter and click OK.
9. Once you're connected, on the left side of the Secure FTP window you'll see "Your Computer" which are your local files. On the right side of the Secure FTP window you will see your remote files on mydrive.uga.edu. Notice also that you will see the path to your directory location, something like /USERS2/myid01/.

10. Select your Transfer Mode:
There are three modes of data transfer: auto, binary and text (ASCII). Files are handled differently when it's a plain text document versus all the other file types. Normally it's fine to set the mode to auto (default) and let Secure FTP decide which is best.

Web pages created with MS Office need to be transferred to the web server in "Binary" mode. Secure FTP uses "AUTO" as the default mode of transfer, but this needs to be set to binary if you created or edited your web pages using Microsoft Word or Front Page.

To change the Transfer Mode, from the Secure FTP pull-down menu, select
Remote-->Transfer Mode-->
and choose either Auto, Text or Binary.

11. There are two ways to upload files and folders to your MyDrive/MyWeb area.

First, you can Drag and Drop files and folders from and open local window into your MyDrive remote window. If you want those files and folders to go into the www directory, be sure to open that directory first.

Second, you can use the navigation under the "Your Computer" window to navigate to the location of the files and folders on your local computer. Once you've found the files, simply select them and click on UPLOAD.

12. View your pages and check to be sure all the images load and the navigation works.
