Dreamweaver 8.0 Configuration - Windows/Macintosh

Dreamweaver is a program which allows you to design, build and manage your web site. This document does not provide instruction on how to use Dreamweaver to build your site, it simply provides you with the necessary information on how to successfully connect to MyWeb/MyDrive when using Dreamweaver .

Online self-paced instruction about using Dreamweaver is available to UGA students, faculty and staff
from the UGA Portal (http://my.uga.edu) under: Element K
Catalog -> Design & Media -> Web Design -> Macromedia Dreamweaver 8

From within Dreamweaver, select
Site-->Manage Sites
and either click on NEW to create a new site or EDIT to edit an existing site.

1. When the SITE DEFINITION window opens, select the ADVANCED tab.

2. From the Access: pulldown menu, select "WebDAV." Type the URL to connect to MyDrive/MyWeb in the URL box. This URL is case-sensitive, so type it exactly as presented in the window.

WebDAV URL:
Connects directly to your "www" folder at MyDrive/MyWeb.

https://mywebdav.cc.uga.edu/oneNet/NetStorage/Home@UGA/www/

3. Enter your UGA MyID and password in the login & password boxes. Click on "Test." If Dreamweaver can successfully connect to MyDrive/MyWeb, you will get a success message.

We also recommend that you select the option to "Refresh remote file list automatically."

4. Click OK.

5. If you're accustomed to using Dreamweaver with a FTP connection, you will notice some differences while using a WebDAV connection.

  • The connect/disconnect button is grey because it does not function with a WebDAV connection.
  • To see your remote site, click on the REFRESH button.
  • Uploading and Downloading files and folders may take a little longer than if you were using FTP.

The WebDAV URL to connect directly to your "www" folder is: https://mydrive.uga.edu/oneNet/NetStorage/Home@UGA/www
