has entered a new era of Information Technology planning. Information

institution to meet
its goals of academic, research, and public service excellence
while managing the business of the institution.

welcomed by Associate CIO Greg Ashley
Enterprise Information Technology Services is thereby committed to a
collegial, participatory planning process involving our clients,
partners, and IT professional both within EITS and throughout the
University. This process is known as Compact Planning.
Compact Planning is designed to engage the campus in the identification of
high-priority information technology needs and requirements; the process is
also designed for long-term planning for core information technology
infrastructure, systems, services, and applications.
It can be
further described as:
- A negotiated, bilateral written agreement focused on long-term
planning.
- A venue for establishing initiative-based priorities.
- A cyclical, iterative, and annual process.
- A process that creates an alignment of unit and organizational goals
and strategies.
- A process that provides for accountability through specific
performance and outcome measures tied to initiatives.
- A process that positions actions, outcomes, and performance expectations
with respect to shared responsibilities via partnerships and codicils
while identifying funding sources in the context of University long-range
goals and performance expectations.
